What is Digital Divide?

The definition of digital divide itself is widespread. It could be defined in a local context or a broad context. For one, it may refer to the gap between people who are technological literate (have access to technology) and those who has limited or none. How is it possible for this scenario to occur? It is mainly due to several differences that people experiences across different regions and generations. Structure and economical differences have led people who are living in rural area or with lower income not being able to have good technological infrastructure which is the road towards digital information. Besides that, technical skills among society is also a factor to this problem. Young generation who were brought up with computers tend to treat technology as part of their life. On the other hand, older generation who has just been introduced to technology may not be able to accept the change. Because older generation consist of parents, that stage plays a very important role in instilling technological knowledge among their children.
