These are tips that are good to practice, no matter how secure (or insecure) your operating system is.
Do not use Internet Explorer to view web pages
Especially Internet Explorer 6, it allows for active x controls and other security holes that are a bigger risk than benefit
Internet Explorer 8 does a better job of this, but it is also a pain for web developers to write for, be nice to them and use a browser that is compliant with web standards
Always be sure you trust the source when giving out certain information over the internet such as credit card numbers or social security numbers
Make sure the connection the web site is encrypted:
Typically these address will start with https, rather than http. (s stands for secured)
